The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
Good day too you saints of the Living God. Jesus promised that He will return to earth so that we can be with Him forever. The apostles preached this same message throughout their life while on this earth. Christ spoke these words of comfort and promise, “Let not your hearts be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also”, John 14:1-3. A clearer message of promise than this we cannot receive from the Master Himself. We are to have absolute faith in Him, as the disciples had faith in Jesus. Jesus’ proclamation of a house with many mansions proclaims Heaven as a place so large, that it actually transcends one’s imagination and comprehension. Because Jesus had firsthand knowledge of this place He is able to speak in this manner, and of the fact that He is going away to prepare a place for them who have faith in Him, and have served Him faithfully, and who also have denied the sinful ways of the world system. Verse 3 is the fulfilment of this promise, and here it pertains to the “Rapture of the Church”, 1Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1Corinthians 15:50-54. Now this is where the debate comes to light concerning the Rapture and the Second Coming. The Rapture and the Second Coming are two separate distinct happenings. The “rapture” spoken of here is an event that is told by the Apostle Paul which indicates exactly how it will take place. The crux of this event is that Jesus Christ will not place his feet physically on the earth at this time. This is in total contrast to the event that takes place in Revelation 19, with Christ coming back to earth in physical view with the saints [armies] of all the ages. So by these two separate events we know that the first one is where Christ will meet the believers in the air, and at the second is where Jesus Christ will return with the same saints\armies\believers visibly. So the rapture is the removal of believers as an act of deliverance, 1Thessalonians 4:13-17; 5:9. At the Second Coming believers will then return with Christ, Revelation 1:7; Matthew 24:29-30. My friend, as sure as I am writing down these words, as sure of this I am that these two separate events will occur in the not too distant future. The “rapture” is imminent as this occurs before the Great Tribulation period. The Second Coming will not occur until certain end-time events have taken place, 2Thessalonians 2:3-4; Matthew 24:15-30. I know that there are many scholars and Bible -students out there who differ in opinions concerning these end-time events. And I respect their opinions, therefore I ask that in the same spirit of a common love for Christ our Lord, I implore that they afford me the same respect concerning my opinions on these matters of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. After all our common goal is not to fight and argue who is right or wrong, but rather to send out a warning to a lost and dying world that God Almighty loves all men, and that time is running out for the many who have not yet made a commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 24 gives us a more detailed view pertaining to end-time events, indicating that we are nearing the time in which Christ will “catch away” His Church. In describing the Tribulation period, Revelation 4-19 nowhere mentions the Church being here on earth. It is only in Chapter 19 does the writer mention the Church [who now return with Christ and the armies of heaven] again. Surely if the Church is here on earth during the Tribulation period, as some claim it to be, then why does John the Revelator not even remotely make mention of this? Surely if the Church is here on earth then Jesus would make mention of it during the time that He spent with John on the Island Patmos foretelling him what will occur during this time of what the Bible also calls “the time of Jacobs’ trouble”, Jeremiah 30:7. This verse pertains to the nation of Israel during the tribulation when God Almighty will once again turn His attention primarily to the Jews. Yes, my friend the Church has been removed [caught up] from the earth as described by Paul in 1Thessalonians 4:13-18. The rapture and the Second Coming are both end-time events. Both involve Jesus returning but at two different times, and in totally different ways. In summary the rapture is the return of Christ in the clouds [not physical clouds] to remove all believers from the earth before God’s time of wrath on the earth. The Second Coming is the return of Jesus Christ to the earth to bring an end to the Tribulation and to defeat the Antichrist and his evil empire. This event unlike the Rapture, is when Christ will return in fulfilment of the prophecy promises He made, “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in Heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory”, Matthew 24:30; “And I saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse and He who sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in Righteousness He does judge and make war; His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He himself”, Revelation 19:11-12. The return of Christ [Second Coming] is the literal appearance of Christ in power and glory and the whole world will see Him. The Second Coming is the literal appearance of the Son of God to this earth as King in power and glory to rule for a thousand years, Revelation 20:1-6. “And I saw an Angel come down from Heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God, and which had not worshipped the Beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the First Resurrection. Blessed and Holy is he who has part in the First Resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be Priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years”
John is telling us here that at the return of Christ with the saints of the ages, at the battle place called Armageddon, Jesus will appear with such power, majesty and glory and Himself will [I believe that not one saint of God will lift a finger so to speak at this occasion, because there is no indication that they do] destroy the armies of the Antichrist by smiting them with the sword of His mouth. He will at this time bring the nations of the world under His rule by such power, glory and majesty, and instruct the Angel to put chains to the devil the old serpent, who we know as Satan and throw him in a bottomless pit for one thousand years. Christ will then rule the nations of the world, and those saints who were a part of the First Resurrection [the Old and New Testament saints] for what the Bible calls the “Kingdom Age or Millennium Reign of Christ. It is important that we believe in the Second Coming, because it is clearly what the Bible teaches. So to doubt the validity of the Second Coming is to doubt the reliability and the validity of the Word of God. The Second Coming is important because Jesus Himself promised it would come to pass. The Second Coming of Christ is our only hope and confidence that God Almighty is in control of all things and is faithful to fulfil His promises as is indicated, “Looking for that Blessed Hope, and the glorious appearing of the Great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”, Titus 2:13. The Second Coming is important because it will come at a time when the world is in need of a Righteous Ruler and King. As Revelation 6-18 reveals that this is the time in which God in Righteous indignation pours out His wrath upon sinful man in due punishment for their wicked unrepentant ways. This is the time period in which the Antichrist will rule probably a large part of the known world, and wherein many millions will be put to death by this evil man and his henchmen. Many millions according to the Word of God will be saved during the Tribulation period, Revelation 7:9-17, but many also will be killed for refusing the mark of the Antichrist, Revelation 13:16-18. So it is imperative that at some point near the end of the Tribulation that Christ will come back to earth to put a stop to the carnage and wickedness of the man of sin, Revelation 19:11-21. The world will be devastated as millions have perished under this despotic and most evil ruler. But hallelujah Christ will put a stop to all this as He takes control of planet earth and becomes its rightful owner to rule with an iron sceptre as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Perhaps no event in the history of this planet has and is being anticipated like the Second Coming. Every generation of believers, even New Testament believers, has strongly believed that Jesus would come in their lifetime. According to 2Thessaloinians 2:1-2, many have declared as Paul told the Thessalonians’ Church, “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him. That you be not shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by letter as from us, as the day of Christ is at hand”. In affect the Apostle Paul is telling us not to become unsettled or alarmed by false doctrine, or prophecy, report or otherwise as many false prophets will come in these last days drawing us away from what is truth. Even in Paul’s day some were proclaiming that the Second Coming was about to take place. Of course we know from scripture that the Second Coming cannot take place until certain things happen, such as the Rapture must take place first, the Antichrist must be revealed and sign a seven year peace treaty with Israel; God’s wrath must be released on the world, etc. Certain other earth shaking events must happen before the Son of God can return in power and glory to this sin-sick planet. Now let me just say what many scholars or debaters often claim concerning the “Rapture”. They claim but the word rapture is not in the Bible. And they are absolutely right there is no such word. The English translations of the Bible do not use that word as such. The word rapture is translated from the Greek word harpazo which means “caught away”. In Strong’s Concordance of the Bible, 726: har-pad-zo; [from a der of 138] to seize [in various applications]—catch [away, up] pluck, pull, take by force. The belief is largely based on 1Thessalonians 4:16-17. It is important to understand this because the verse does say, “to meet the Lord in the air”. Christ does not set foot on the earth at this time because believers; those who died in Christ and those who are alive in Christ at this time, are called up to meet Him in the air. So this cannot be accepted as the Second Coming of Jesus Christ as some are claiming it to be. In Revelation 16:15-17 and 17:14, John gives us an indication that Christ’s return will put an end to the Antichrist’s chaos. Christ will reclaim God’s Kingdom [earth] with His saints as proclaimed in, Zechariah 14:5; 1Thessalonians 3:13; Jude 1:14. Christ spoke of Himself in Matthew 25:31-32 concerning His return to earth, “When the Son of Man shall come in His glory, and all the Holy Angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the Throne of His glory: And before Him shall be gathered all the nations; and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats”. Our Lord is referring here that at His Second Coming this is what shall take place; when He judges the nations that will commence at the outset of the Kingdom Age [Millennium reign]. In other words folks, God will now separate the true believers and followers of Christ, from the pretenders and unbelievers. In John 14:3 Jesus tells His disciples that He is going away to prepare a place for them and He will come again He promised so that they [and all believers thereafter] may be with Him. This is speaking here of the “rapture”. As we have learned from the above scriptures pertaining to the one event known as the “rapture” and the other event pertaining to the Second Coming, we can know with assurance that Revelation 19:11-16 is when Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God will return physically to planet earth, “And I saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He who sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in Righteousness He does judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His Head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew but He Himself. And He was clothed with vesture dipped in Blood; and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in Heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations; and He shall rule with a rod of iron; and He treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. One can now see as these scriptures proclaim that the two events spoken of above are two totally separate and very different happenings. When Christ told His disciples that after He has ascended to Heaven He would return again. Therefore the promise is for all who have been faithful followers ever since His ascension. We have to be spiritually prepared and ever watchful for His victorious return!
In Amos 4:12 the Prophet warns the nation with this strong worded rebuke, “Prepare to meet your God, O Israel”. And as the Lord God warned Israel so many years ago, so He is warning the Muslim nations of the world, “Prepare to meet your God”. And no, He is not Allah, and neither is He Mohammad their messenger. He is God Almighty, Creator of everything, within the animal kingdom, in the marine kingdom, in the bird kingdom, but even so much more in the human kingdom. God created everything. And if you are a Muslim, you must be very frightened? If you are a Muslim you have been confused and misled and deceived? If you are a Muslim, you must understand the devil has used, confused and deceived you into thinking that God Almighty [in three persons] is the Allah who you think is the only true God? If you are a Muslim you must know that the devil has confused, misled and deceived you into thinking that the paedophile Mohammad is the true messenger of God? If you are a Muslim then you must realise that Jesus Christ is the only Way, the only Truth and the only Life, there is no other? And as the prophet Amos so long ago spoke these warnings to Israel, so the message and warning to the Islamic world is, “Prepare to meet your God”. Islam will bow its knee to the True God of heaven and earth. Any person who does not acknowledge Jesus Christ now as Lord and Saviour will bow his\her knee to Christ and will acknowledge Him as Lord. Satan that old dragon and serpent, the deceiver of mankind will bow his knee to Jesus Christ and confess He is Lord of all, Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:11. Therefore Islam will have to reject the lies of the devil, and the damnable teachings of their false prophet Mohammad, and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and God, as the only Way of Truth and Righteousness. There are so many misled people in the world today who have no knowledge whatsoever of the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is therefore the child of God’s duty to proclaim to the lost that, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”, John 3:16. And “God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved”, v17. So that, “He who believes on Him is not condemned: but he who believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”, v18. Dear friend if you are reading this short message, please consider that which has been spoken of here. Jesus loves you and wants to save you from a lost eternity. Time is running out for mankind as the trumpet of God is about to sound. That great day of redemption for all believers everywhere is upon us. Paul says, “Behold, I show you a mystery [the Spirit is revealing to the apostle concerning the Resurrection of the Saints i.e. the Rapture]; we shall not all sleep, [many believers will be alive at the rapture]; but we shall all be changed [them who are dead in Christ and them who are alive in Christ at this time]. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump [speaking of the close of the Church Age]: for the trump shall sound [the trump of God, 1Thessalonians 4:16], and the dead shall be raised incorruptible [them that are dead in Christ are raised with no sin nature], and we shall be changed [put on glorified bodies]. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, and then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?” 1Corinthians 15:51-55. Will you be a part of this mystery Paul is talking about, or will you just simply ignore this plea and go to a lost eternity. Please make the right decision now, for the time is fast closing for the love and grace of God to touch your heart.
